FERNDALE, Wash. — Slater Road and Pacific Highway are impacted by an overturned semi-truck near the roundabout at the intersection of the 2 roads. The truck was hauling a load of lumber when it overturned shortly before 2pm today, June 14th.

Traffic in all directions was being diverted across the middle of the mini roundabout at the intersection according to a person at the scene.

At 2:45pm, the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office announced they would be closing Slater Road between Northwest Drive and Pacific Highway to upright the truck and trailer and recover the load. They estimated the closure would be in place between 2 and 4 hours.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area for an extended period.

This will be the third time in the past 5 weeks that a semi-truck carrying a load of lumber has rolled and impacted traffic. The first occurred on Badger Road in Lynden and the second on State Route 9 by Siper Road.
