FERNDALE, Wash. — The BNSF railroad crossing arms at Grandview Road and Portal Way were reported down for nearly an hour this morning, December 3rd, although no train was in the crossing. Initial reports indicated the problem began before 7am.
Washington State Patrol Trooper Heather Axtman said a brake issue on a nearby train was causing the arms to remain down. She said an estimation of a couple hours to resolve the situation had been given about 7:25am and detours were being setup. But, a few minutes later, the train was able to be moved beyond the sensors that were activating the arms and the situation was resolved.
