TRAFFIC ALERT: Multi-vehicle crash on northbound I-5 in Bellingham snarled traffic

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — First responders were dispatched to the northbound lanes of I-5 near the Sunset Avenue interchange today, September 13th, about 11:35am due to a report of a rollover crash.

As of 11:40am, it appeared from WSDOT camera images, all northbound traffic was being diverted off I-5 at Sunset Avenue and traffic was backed up for a mile.

As of 11:55am, both lanes were reopened.

Washington State Patrol Trooper Rocky Oliphant told Whatcom News it was a 2-vehicle non-injury crash that occurred after 1 of the vehicles struck a deer. Neither of the vehicles had rolled over.
