CUSTER, Wash. — A semi truck and trailer rolled onto their side while traveling northbound on I-5 south of the Grandview Road interchange.

First responders were dispatched about 3:45pm today, October 7th. The truck ended up on the shoulder, the right lane was closed and left lane remained open.

Whatcom County Fire District 7 Division Chief Ben Boyko told Whatcom News no one was injured in the rollover and the driver, the only one in the cab, was able to get out on his own.

Washington State Patrol Trooper Rocky Oliphant told Whatcom News the trailer contained 40,000 pounds of onions and apples. He noted the road is expected to be reduced to 1 lane for an extended time until the semi truck and trailer can be righted and removed.
