Mt Baker Highway blocked after crash

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Bellingham Police announced today, June 21st, that a crash involving a passenger vehicle and a tanker truck has closed all lanes of Mount Baker Highway between McLeod Road and Dewey Road.

First responders were dispatched to the scene of the crash about 5:25pm today. At least one person was transported by aid crews to PeaceHealth St Joseph’s Medical Center according to the public safety dispatch log provided by PulsePoint.

Bellingham Police reported the tanker was not leaking but was stuck in a ditch and would take some time to clear the lanes. At 6:10pm, they estimated the road would remain closed for an hour or more.

No information about the cause of the crash or if any charges or citations were possible at the time this story was published.

Update: Bellingham Police said all lanes were reopened by 9pm.
