BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Law enforcement closed the traffic lanes of Meridian Street between McLeod Road and Birchwood Avenue this morning after a car versus bicyclist collision.
First responders were dispatched to the area about 6:15am.
As of 6:30am, the southbound lanes were closed between McLeod Road and Birchwood Avenue.

Click for more informationAs of 7:05am, the northbound lanes were going to also be closed between McLeod Road and Birchwood Avenue.
At 7:45am, Bellingham Police estimated the road closure would remain in place until at least 9:30am.
Both southbound and northbound lanes were reopened about 8:50am.
As a result of the closure, many southbound I-5 drivers are using the emergency shoulder to queue up to take the Sunset Avenue off-ramp.
