The Bellingham Herald is reporting a section of Malloy Avenue between Thornton Street and Jensen Street will be closed to all but local traffic Thursday, October 1st, from 8:30am to 3:30pm.
This is likely due to work in preparation for the sewer upgrade project expected to start in October. According to a City announcement this afternoon, September 30th, this closure is due to a residential development project by Friberg Construction on the northeast corner of Malloy Avenue and Thornton Street.
Traffic heading to the high school should be able to get through since the closure isn’t scheduled to begin until 8:30am. But the closure is scheduled to be in effect when school lets out. Drivers heading to other schools with later start times should plan to take alternate routes.
