EVERSON, Wash. — Whatcom County Public Works has scheduled pavement striping work on approximately 6 miles of Everson-Goshen Way between E Pole Road (SR544) and Mount Baker Highway (SR542) tomorrow, August 12th, between 6am and 6pm.
Drivers are warned to expect delays on Everson-Goshen Way and alternative routes are recommended while the work is underway.
Public Works officials say Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office deputies will be assisting with traffic control, and reminded drivers that traffic fines are double in work zones.
Drivers are also advised to watch for “wet paint” warning signs and warning trucks, avoid following the work crew too closely and not to drive over wet lane stripes. Fast-drying paint is used that can take up to 5 minutes to dry.
Driving over wet paint removes tiny glass reflector beads in the paint and can cause the long-lasting paint to splatter onto the vehicle. Striping paint that has splattered on a vehicle will be nearly impossible to remove after it has dried, WCPW warns. Applying water under high-pressure within an hour is what they advise.
