Today’s morning commute – weather – events. Right here in Ferndale
7:30am: Good morning. It is a mostly sunny morning with temperatures in the low 50s around Ferndale. A wet and blustery weather front passed by to the north of the Ferndale area for much of yesterday afternoon and evening only to drop down into the area with its tail end. This resulted in a surprise short burst of wind and hail in some parts after 7:30pm which fulfilled the promised 10% chance of precipitation on what had otherwise been a dry but cloudy day.
The city-wide water flush is scheduled to continue today. Watch for street signs to know when it is happening in your neighborhood.
The Lummi Island ferry, Whatcom Chief, will be temporarily out of service for its biweekly refueling today from 12:30pm to 1:20pm.
TRAFFIC
Roadwork is scheduled to continue until 11am this morning on northbound I-5 in spots between Portal Way and Blaine. Expect work to resume again this evening around 7pm and it will continue overnight. Traffic will be reduced to one lane through the work areas so delays can be expected.
Otherwise, commute routes in and out of Ferndale are currently open with no visible surprises. Check the current WSDOT traffic cams and commute time estimates anytime by clicking here.
