The outage began at 6:30am according to PSE.
The road was closed to through traffic while crews worked to remove the fallen tree and repair the damaged power lines.
2,938 Puget Sound Energy customers were reportedly impacted.
A bright blue flash was reported near the intersection of Washington and Main Streets.
Over 350 PSE customers were impacted by the outage.
PSE reported over 300 of their customers lost power.
The initial estimate for restoring power was 4pm and no cause for the outage was given.
The driver was booked into Whatcom County Jail while Puget Sound Energy crews continued repairing the downed pole into the early morning hours.
