This afternoon about 5:40pm police and aid units were dispatched to a report of a car vs pedestrian collision at the intersection of 1st Avenue and Main Street.
When they arrived they found a man laying on the roadway next to a motorized scooter several feet from the intersection. Whatcom County Fire District 7 medics treated the man for minor injuries at the scene before transporting him to PeaceHealth St Joseph Medical Center for additional treatment and evaluation according to Ferndale Police Sergeant Travis Card.
Card said a Chevrolet SUV eastbound on Main Street turned to go southbound on 1st Avenue when it collided with the scooter in the crosswalk. The collision sent the scooter into a parked vehicle on 1st Avenue.
Card said the driver of the SUV was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk and no insurance.
