Do you appreciate the local news and information you find on My Ferndale Discover? If so, your support is being requested.
Don’t get me wrong. My Ferndale News isn’t failing and I’m not losing my enthusiasm or energy for this role I accidentally took on (ask me about it someday). But there is more that can and should be done.
And the news stories will always be available for free. The marketplace expects news and information to be free and I agree. Especially since it also serves advertisers’ interests that I can provide them with such a large and very localized audience without charging them an arm and a leg.
So it comes down to this. To give you better coverage from My Ferndale News, more revenue is needed. We are going to bring in more advertisers but …
Ongoing monthly contributions from readers would enable paying freelancers to expand news coverage and putting more time into reaching out to the business community to let them know about how affordable and effective advertising on My Ferndale News is. So far, very little selling has been going on. Advertisers have mostly come to My Ferndale News as opposed us having gone to them with a pitch.
So I am asking all of you, yes you too, to make an investment in community journalism through a voluntary subscription. Do it now, while you are thinking of it, by clicking the appropriate button below or by mailing a check (address is on the Contact Us page) payable to Whatcom Marketing LLC.

Help is needed from business owners who may not be able afford to advertise for $75 per month but could handle a $5 per month contribution. Help is needed from law enforcement, fire/aid, city, school district and other taxpayer-funded employees who frequently encourage me with kind words of appreciation and stop me to talk about recent stories or to ponder how its possible for one person to seemingly be so many places at once 😉 .
And, as a little icing on the cake, anyone who commits to ongoing support of any amount will receive very cool European-style car stickers to show off your Ferndale pride.
Thanks for reading this and reading My Ferndale News. I can’t do this without every one of you.
