About 9:45pm Saturday evening, December 26th, several Whatcom Fire District 7 units were dispatched to a report of a structure fire in the 5300 block of Hovander Road.
According to radio dispatches, the first units to arrive reported the structure was fully involved and took up defensive positions. Within 15 minutes the building was reported to “be down.”
Initial indications were the structure was abandoned with no electrical service.
The road was blocked between LaBounty Drive and Scout Place for several hours while the fire was being dealt with and investigated.
