Pioneer Meadows Montessori School is hosting a square dance competition tonight in the Pioneer Pavilion Community Center. The event also serves as a “jam-raiser” for the Ferndale Food Bank.

According to organizers, there will be hot dogs and other items available to purchase. In addition, students from Pioneer Meadows Montessori School will be on hand with songs and dances of their own and will be selling hand-made stick horses. A photo booth will be available as well.

Up to 8 couples will be able to compete in the “Big Boot” square dancing contest with music provided by local musician Lucas Hicks.

Attendees are asked to bring donations of store-bought jams for the Ferndale Food Bank. According to the organizers, the Food Bank receives plenty of peanut butter but not as much jam and this effort is hoped to provide complete the supply of PB&J fixings to be made available to families with kids this summer.

The doors open at 6pm and tickets will be sold at the door: $10 for adults and $5 for children. Children under 3 are free.
