Neighbors around Ferndale were excited to see a procession through town this morning. It was all for the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Washington as it made its way from the Canadian border to Joint Base Lewis McChord (JBLM), south of Tacoma.

The “Flame of Hope™” was handed off at the Peace Arch and then made its way southward through Ferndale. Other torch runs originate from various locations throughout the Washington. By Friday evening, law enforcement officers and athletes will have run each torch to the Opening Ceremonies of the Washington Special Olympics Summer Games State Games.

Special Olympics Washington Summer Games will be held June 4th and 5th with opening ceremonies on Friday, June 3rd. Athletes will compete in aquatics, track & field, cycling, power lifting and soccer.
