BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Traffic was backed up for 1.5 miles about 1:30pm, Friday, April 15th, due to a crash in the southbound lanes of I-5 through Bellingham.
Initial reports were that a 2-car non-injury crash occurred on the Birchwood Avenue overpass between the Meridian Street and Sunset Drive interchanges about 1:15pm.
According to WSDOT traffic camera images, the involved vehicles were partially blocking the right lane due to the abbreviated shoulder on the overpass.
A Washington State Patrol trooper arrived at the scene and was able to clear the vehicles from and reopen the right lane about 1:40pm.
