Two different projects will result in temporarily closing two southbound I-5 ramps next week according to Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT).
WSDOT maintenance crews will close the southbound Custer rest area off-ramp and the right shoulder of I-5 north of the Grandview Road interchange from 7am until 4:30pm Monday, June 12, through Thursday, June 15, to do sewer line work.
WSDOT crews will also close the southbound on-ramp to Portal Way to do sign installation
Wednesday, June 14, through the morning of Thursday, June 15 Tuesday, June 13th, and Wednesday, June 14th, from 9:30am to 11:30am. To access southbound I-5 from Portal Way, WSDOT is recommending drivers take the northbound on-ramp at Portal Way, exit at Grandview Road, turn left onto Grandview Road and then get on I-5 southbound using the Grandview Road on-ramp.
This story was updated 6/10/17 at 9pm: There was a discrepancy between WSDOT’s schedule for the Portal Way on-ramp closure and signage placed near the location to advise of the pending closure. Signage forewarned of the closure on Tuesday, June 13th, and Wednesday, June 14th, from 9:30am to 11:30am but a WSDOT posting said the closure would be Wednesday, June 14, through the morning of Thursday, June 15. Clarification was requested of WSDOT and this story was updated when based on the response (posting was in error, signage was correct).
