Snow slide blocks both lanes of Mount Baker Highway

MOUNT BAKER, Wash. — Officials with the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) reported about 1:45pm today, Tuesday, April 18th, a snowslide had blocked both lanes of the Mount Baker Highway (SR542) at Pillar Rocks, about 2 miles below the seasonally closed access to Artist Point.

WSDOT officials said crews were in the process of bringing equipment to clear the slide debris from the road.

UPDATE 2:20pm – WSDOT officials said the road had been cleared of the slide debris and had been reopened to traffic.
