
WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — Mixed rain and snow, freezing rain and resulting transportation challenges are being cited as the reason many Whatcom County area agencies, organizations and business are canceling or delaying opening today, Friday, December 23rd.
Note: Public schools are already on winter vacation break.
- Bellingham Technical College – closed (scheduled closure for Dec. 19-26)
- Western Washington University – closed
- Sanitary Service Company (SSC) – All operations closed today. No garbage, recycling or FoodPlus! pickup today. Click here for more information.
- Whatcom Transportation Authority (WTA) – Buses may be delayed or detoured where the roads are icy. Click here for more information. No Zone service or Flex rides.
- The afternoon departures of Route 72X will remain on the Mt Baker Hwy and turn around at the Resource Center. No neighborhood service after 1pm.
- Whatcom County Public Libraries – closed
- Bellingham Public Libraries – closed (scheduled closure for Dec. 23-26)
- Bellingham International Airport – runway was reported closed as of 8:45am. “Crews are actively working to reopen as soon as possible. Please check with your airline regarding your flight status.
- Pete’s Auto Repair (Ferndale) – closed
- City of Bellingham – services except public safety responses are now closed for the holiday weekend (Dec. 23-26). Park restrooms are closed due to weather.
- Whatcom Museum – closed
- Wild Bird Chalet – closed
