Traffic volumes on Main Street have become much higher than normal now that drivers have grown tired of the delays due to the multiple construction zones on Slater Road and are without the northern bypass via Brown Road. The remaining routes into Ferndale from I-5 are Main Street, Portal Way via 2nd Avenue and Grandview Road and it appears most everyone is choosing Main Street.
Something new to add into the mix will be the Old Settlers’ Picnic parades (junior parade at 6pm tonight, July 24th, and the grand parade tomorrow at 11am) and everyone lined up to make left turns westbound from Main Street onto 1st and 2nd Avenues on their way to Pioneer Park for Old Settlers’ Picnic festivities.
Avoiding Main Street, especially westbound, would be well-advised for the next few days if not weeks, even on the weekends.
Walking to the Old Settlers’ Picnic should be a good option with the mild temperatures and minimal rain forecasted.
