SILVER ALERT: Ferndale woman reported missing

UPDATE 4/7/21 2:30am: She has been located by Federal Way Police.

FERNDALE, Wash. — The Ferndale Police Department (FPD) issued a Silver Alert this evening to locate an 84-year-old woman reported to be missing.

According to FPD, Norma J Helmick left a residence in the 5900 block of Shannon Avenue saying she was driving home to North Bend, Oregon. She is suspected of having Alzheimer’s or dementia and gets lost easily.

Helmick left without her purse, money or identification while taking her pet Chihuahua and a suitcase with dress clothes. She does not have a cell phone and has not regularly driven in the last year

Helmick is described as an 84-year-old 5-foot-tall white woman with silver hair and blue eyes who weighs 120 pounds. She wears black glasses and wears her should-length hair in a ponytail. She was last seen wearing black jeans, white and black print long sleeve shirt, white and gray tennis shoes and a black baseball hat.

She is expected to be driving a red 2003 Honda CRV with Oregon Army Veteran plates, “EYJS” and a white outline sticker of an elk or deer in the rear window.

Anyone with information regarding Helmick’s location is asked to call 911.
