BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Bellingham Police Department (BPD) officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Baker Street on Friday, January 21st, about 2:35pm due to a report of shots fired.
800 block of Baker Street
BPD Lieutenant Claudia Murphy told Whatcom News the victim seemed to have interrupted his vehicle being prowled by several suspects. He saw 2 of them near his car when the car alarm went off. The window was broken out and the 2 suspects had taken 2 ammo boxes containing several hundred rounds of varying sizes from the car.
Murphy said the 2 suspects were reported to have gotten into a teal passenger vehicle and, as they drove away, 1 of the passengers pointed, what the victim believed to be, a handgun at him and fired. The bullet struck another victim’s vehicle in the front passenger window and went straight through to the lower driver’s side windshield. The victim had been standing by the front passenger side of the other victim’s car when the bullet was fired.
The suspects were wearing facial coverings, hats and baggy pants. The suspect vehicle was not located.
