Sheriff’s Office investigators are working to identify body found on Sandy Point beach

Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) Undersheriff Jeff Parks says investigators are working with the Whatcom County Medical Examiner’s Office and other law enforcement agencies, including Canadian agencies, to determine the identity of a body found on a beach yesterday in the Neptune Beach area of Sandy Point.

Parks said WCSO deputies responded to a report of a body that had washed onto the beach in the 4800 block of Sucia Drive about 2:45pm on Sunday, July 22nd. They found a deceased adult male who had been in the water for some time. The body was clothed only in a pair of undershorts. No identification or other items were found at the scene.

The body was turned over to the Whatcom County Medical Examiner’s Office for examination.

Parks said the public is encouraged to call the WCSO office at 360-778-6600 if they have information related to the case.
