Several lane and ramp closures expected during nighttime roadwork this week

WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — Officials with the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) warn motorists to expect delays and use alternate routes due to the following scheduled lane and ramp closures on I-5, SR9 and Badger Road (SR546) this week.

I-5 closures

From 9pm on Sunday, August 14th, and continuing to 5am on Monday, the northbound right lane and on-ramp at the I-5 Iowa/State Street interchange will be closed for paving.

From 8pm on Monday, August 15th, to 5am on Tuesday, the southbound left lane and on-ramp at the I-5 Old Fairhaven Parkway interchange will be closed for work on the Padden Creek fish passage project

From 9pm on Monday, August 15th, and continuing to 5am on Tuesday, the northbound left lane and on-ramp at the I-5 Iowa/State Street interchange will be closed for paving.

From 9pm on Tuesday, August 16th, to 5am on Wednesday, the southbound right lane and on-ramp at the I-5 Northwest Avenue interchange will be closed for paving.

From 9pm on Thursday, August 18th, to 5am on Friday, the northbound right lane and off-ramps at the Meridian Street and Bellis Fair Mall Parkway exits will be closed for paving. 

Other Whatcom County road closures

From 8pm on Monday, August 15th, to 5am on Tuesday, northbound and southbound traffic will be alternating via a single lane from 8pm to 5am on Lawrence Road, Nooksack Road, E Badger Road, Easterbrook Road, Cherry Street (SR9) from Mount Baker Highway (SR542) to the US-Canada Border in the area of a rolling work crew doing crack seal and pavement repair. 

From midnight to 6 am on Monday, August 15th, through Thursday, August 18th, eastbound and westbound traffic east of Northwood Road on East Badger Road (SR546) will alternate through a single lane as work on the Kamm Ditch fish passage project continues.
