BLAINE, Wash. — First responders were dispatched Wednesday, March 1st, about 7:45pm to the 8500 block of Semiahmoo Drive due to a report of a fully involved structure fire.

North Whatcom Fire & Rescue Division Chief Jon Ahrenholz told Whatcom News firefighters arrived to find flames coming from the roof of the 2-story residential log construction structure.
Ahrenholz said NWFR, Lynden and Ferndale fire districts responded and were able to establish a water line from a hydrant located a couple hundred feet from the structure.
“Crews used in excess of 11,000 gallons of water trying to ensure extinguishment due to the fact that it was a log home with lots of fire load,” Ahrenholz said via email.
Neighbors told firefighters the residents were out of the area at the time of the fire.
No injuries were reported and Whatcom County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
