Whatcom Fire District 7 responded to report of a field fire in the 1300 block of Paradise Road about 4:20pm today.
Initial units on scene reported finding an acre on fire with a structure threatened.
According to WCFD7 Assistant Chief Larry Hoffman, the fire was caused by a compost pile fanned by winds and no one was injured.
Earlier today, North Whatcom Fire Rescue dealt with another field fire off Grandview Road.
Hoffman advises, “It’s really dry right now and people should be extremely careful with open flames “
