School bus crash on Valley Highway sends 1 to the hospital

ACME, Wash. — First responders were dispatched to the intersection of Valley Highway (SR9) and Galbraith Road, at the railroad crossing, today, November 4th, just before 3pm due to a report that a Mount Baker School District school bus had been involved in a crash.

According to Washington State Patrol Trooper Rocky Oliphant said a Toyota Tacoma pickup collided with a school bus. Whatcom County Fire District 16 Fire Chief Hank Maleng told Whatcom News the Toyota had rear-ended the school bus and the bus driver was transported by ambulance to PeaceHealth St Joseph Medical Center as a precaution.

The district brought in a replacement driver and the bus continued on its way, according to Maleng.

The Toyota needed to be towed from the scene.
