According to Ferndale School District officials, there are more projects available in Washington State than there are architects to design them. So they were excited to have 9 architectural firms apply to be considered to be selected for designing the new Ferndale High School.
5 of the 9 toured the existing facility and 3 were invited back for an interview.
At tonight’s Ferndale School Board meeting, the directors approved selection of Dykeman Architects of Everett, Washington from the final group.
The firm has designed many other K-12 school buildings in Washington but perhaps the most recognizable for locals would likely be the recently completed $103-million Sehome High School building in Bellingham.
School Board Director Andrew McLaurin said Bond Oversight Committee members were involved in the selection process and were also in agreement with the choice.
