FERNDALE, Wash. — The 5th annual Santa’s Food Drive put on by Ferndale firefighters and Ferndale police was held last Friday and Saturday evenings, December 10th and 11th, in Ferndale. Santa and his helpers went through Ferndale neighborhoods collecting food items for the Ferndale Food Bank.

According to Whatcom 7 Firefighters spokesperson Matt Sweet, this year’s effort took in 16,086 pounds of food and $1,150 in cash donations. Sweet said that amount beats last year’s record by over 3,000 pounds.

Personnel from Whatcom County Fire District 7 and Ferndale Police Department were assisted by Heston Hauling and Ferndale Grocery Outlet during this year’s food drive according to Sweet.
