Runners Support Law Enforcement Saturday Morning

ferndale l.e.f.t 5k station to station 2015Runners of all ages will converge early Saturday morning, September 19th, at the Bellingham Border Patrol Station on Sunset Ave, be shuttled up to the Ferndale Police Station on Main Street and then will run back to the Border Patrol office as they participate in the 2015 Station–2– Station 5K L.E.F.T. run.

The event began in 2012 in remembrance of the first responders lost during the 9/11 attacks.

According the event web page,

Registration supports both the Ferndale Police Association community services funds and Blaine Sector MWR Memorial Scholarship. The funds directed to the Memorial Scholarship are available to the child of any law enforcement or support personnel in memoriam of fallen officers.

“No Parking from 8am to 9am” signs are up on the south side of Main Street to clear a path for the anticipated throng of runners leaving the Ferndale Police Station at 9am. The route (see map below) takes the runners from Main Street, onto Hovander Road and south on LaBounty Drive to the Border Patrol Station on Sunset Avenue.

A prize and awards ceremony is planned for 11am at the Border Patrol Station.
