FERNDALE, Wash. — City of Ferndale Public Works warns drivers to expect delays and to use alternate routes if possible while road paving work will reduce Main Street/W Axton Road and also Slater Road to a single lane next week.
Paving work with the accompanying lane closure is scheduled as listed below.
- on Main Street/W Axton Road between Monday, August 22nd, and Wednesday, August 24th
- on Slater Road between Thursday, August 25th, and Friday, August 26th

During these days, traffic can be expected to be reduced to a single lane through the work area between 7am and 3:30pm. Flaggers will be alternating traffic through the single open lane.
Glad some road repairs are happening. There is much more that needs done, I’m sure. I think Ferndale & BHam could use a full time pothole repair crew. Perhaps they could team up in an inter-governmental agreement to minimize the cost.
Ok, so when there are traffic issues on Main St, Slater Rd is the best alt route for many, & vice versa. While road repair is vital, scheduling seems to lack a bit of common sense. I guess Portal Way & I-5 will see traffic increases next week, especially for those of us on the West side of town who wish to get to & from Bellingham.
