Police were dispatched to a report of a dog reported to have been attacked by a coyote near Vista Middle School yesterday, July 20th, about 10am. No further details were made available.
Reports of coyote activity in and around Ferndale are not rare and many know to bring pets inside in the evenings in an effort to minimize chance encounters. But, as this incident revealed, coyotes are not only a risk in the night time hours. Another neighbor recently reported seeing coyotes roaming around near Vista Drive and Thornton Street in the late afternoon hours.
