There were four candidates to fill the Ferndale School Board district #2 position recently vacated by Stuart McKay. Today, the Board announced their selection.
McKay announced his intention to immediately resign his position during a board meeting at the end of June. McKay had represented District #2 on the board since 2004.
Today’s announcement indicated there were four candidates who were considered for the board position. Chosen was Candice Wilson.

Wilson’s qualifications as mentioned in today’s announcement include,
Candice is enrolled at Northwest Indian College and is working toward her Bachelor’s degree in Tribal Governance and Business Management. She has an in-depth background in strategic planning, budgeting, finance and program management. Her work experience includes: Lummi Nation Vice Chairwoman, Lummi Nation Vote Coordinator, Lummi Child Support Program Case Manager and Lummi Dislocated Workers Program Job Counselor.
Candice has served on many boards and committees including Lummi Nation Law & Justice Commission, Whatcom Family & Community Network, Lummi Nation Services organization, Lummi Indian Business Council, Honor Works and American Legion Auxiliary Post 33. She’s the recipient of the Washington State Native American Coalition Against Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Envision Spirit Award and Lummi Victims of Crime Honoring Our Champions Award.
