The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory beginning Tuesday morning. It says to expect southerly winds from 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 50 mph.
According to the NWS’s advisory, high winds are expected from 10am to 6pm Tuesday. And, according to the current weather forecast, rains are expected to begin late tonight continuing through tomorrow with about a half-inch expected Tuesday.
The rainfall locally and in the mountains is expected to cause the Nooksack River in the Ferndale area to rise significantly over the next few days. Fortunately, the current river level forecast has it cresting at about 16 feet late afternoon on Wednesday. This is well below the official flood stage of 19 feet and not expected to impact local roadways.
