Power outage hits east Ferndale neighborhoods

FERNDALE, Wash. — Puget Sound Energy reports a power outage hit some east Ferndale neighborhoods about 1:45pm today, January 7th, impacting 848 of their customers.

As of 2:05pm, the estimate for restoring power was 4pm and no cause for the outage was given.

While there have been no reports of crashes or other incidents in the area, winds have been gusty today with some gusts reported in the upper 40mph range. As a result, there have been reports of trees into wires and downed branches throughout western Whatcom County today.

UPDATE 2:40pm
PSE has updated their estimate for restoring power to 8pm today.

UPDATE 3:10pm
PSE says an equipment failure was to blame for the power outage.
