Letters were sent home with Eagleridge students alerting parents of the situation.

According to the city’s notice,

The herbicide used (BareSpot Monobor-Chlorate) is a non-selective, granular herbicide used for weed control. You can find more technical information about it here. If handled, the herbicide is an irritant, however if swallowed, it can be toxic. If your child is experiencing nausea or abdominal pains and you have cause to believe that they ingested this material, please contact your physician or poison control (1-800-222-1222).

The district notice said Eagleridge staff, district maintenance department staff and city employees cleaned the area. Eagleridge students played inside during subsequent recess periods.

Neither the City or the District’s public information officers were available to comment when contacted by Discover Ferndale.
