FERNDALE, Wash. — Rains and rising snow levels are forecast to create conditions that may impact some Ferndale area roads beginning tomorrow, February 22nd.

The current Nooksack River level forecast at Ferndale expects it to crest Monday evening just below the official action level of 15 feet. When the river rises to approximately the 15-foot level, the following impacts can be expected.

  • water over the roadway on Ferndale Road north of Marine Drive and also north of Slater Road
  • water over the roadway at the corner of Barrett and Paradise Roads
  • flooding of the WDFW parking lot on Marine Drive
  • water over the roadway at corner of Marine Drive south of Country Lane

Local Ferndale area weather forecasts call for between a half to an inch and a half of rainfall today and tonight. Slater Road was recently closed due to surface water flooding when an inch and a half of rainfall was recorded at Bellingham International Airport inside of 24 hours.
