About 5pm tonight, Ferndale Police were dispatched to a report of an alarm at the Ferndale branch of Key Bank at 2018 Main Street. According to radio transmissions, several officers immediately arrived and set up a perimeter around the bank.

Attempts to call inside the branch were met with a recording since it was after their normal hours. One deputy or officer reported by radio seeing people with their hands up inside. The order was then given to close Main Street between 3rd and 4th Avenues.

Efforts to communicate with staff inside the branch finally paid off and law enforcement were able to confirm there was no hold-up and everyone was okay.

The Main Street was reopened about 5:20pm.

Traffic was backed up more than normal during the evening commute due to the temporary road closure.
