The Nooksack River dropped quickly after cresting yesterday morning at 19.2 feet. 12 hours later, the river level is reported at 12.5 feet. But, with two exceptions, roads and parks closed due to flooding remain closed.

The Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife boat launch parking lot at the north end of Hovander Homestead Park was reopened just before 9am. Barrett and Paradise Roads have also been reopened.

But, as of 8am, Marine Drive, Ferndale Road (south of Slater) and Slater Road remained closed. And Tennant Lake and Hovander Homestead Park remained closed as is the parking lot at VanderYacht Park.

Whatcom County Parks staff had assessed Tennant Lake and Hovander Homestead Parks and said it was hopeful that Tennant Lake and the Fragrance Garden access could be reopened today but was less positive about that happening for Hovander Homestead Park.
