Staff at the Newberg Public Library in Newberg Oregon say they found a unique baseball in their library’s lost-and-found last Friday. The baseball is covered with several handwritten signatures below the caption, “Whatcom County Champs 1952.”
Library staff took to social media with photos of the find asking for assistance in identifying the baseball’s owner, “It would be great to return it to the family of the person that lost it.” They added, “We’re still wondering how it got here at the library in the first place!”
Library staff say their best guesses at the names on the baseball include:
- Glen Gotze
- Howard Jobason
- George Kramer
- Bob Suggs
- Harvey Potter
- Doyle Jensen
- Norm Lowery
- Howard Cole
- Abie Kramer
- Jerry Corderman
- Stan Kinley
- Harold ?????
- Gordon K ????
At least one of the names, Bob Suggs, has been traced back to a Ferndale native by a commenter on social media.
