Old Settlers’ Picnic Grand and Junior Parades now accepting entries

This year’s Old Settlers’ Grand Parade is scheduled to begin at 11am Saturday, July 27th. The parade route begins on the corner of Washington Street and 3rd Avenue and weaves through downtown to Pioneer Park, the site of the annual Old Settlers’ Picnic.

Anyone interested in participating with a float, marching band, antique vehicle or most any other type of entry are invited to download, complete and submit a parade entry form (click link to download) or fill out the online form. All entry forms must be completed and postmarked or emailed by Sunday, July 22nd.

According to the Whatcom County Old Settlers’ website, dignitary entries are charged $35 and business entries are charged $15. All other entries are free.

This year’s parade theme is “Time to Remember-We Make America.”

Entry categories include the following.

  • Antique cars and trucks (1900-1949)
  • Classic cars and trucks (1950-1976)
  • Antique machinery
  • Decorated vehicles
  • Youth organizations
  • Floats
  • Dignitaries
  • Horses
  • Horse-drawn wagons
  • Marching Bands

The Old Settlers’ Junior Parade will be held Friday, July 26th, at 6pm. It will begin at 4th Avenue heading east on Alder Street, turning south on 2nd Avenue and ending at 2nd Avenue and Cherry Street. Anyone interested in participating is requested to download, complete and submit a Junior Parade entry form (click link to download). This entry form must also be completed and postmarked or emailed by Sunday, July 22nd.
