NWS issues wind advisory through 5pm on Wednesday, Oct. 1

WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — The National Weather Service in Seattle today, Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at 1pm, issued a wind advisory due to gusts expected to reach 45mph.

Wind Advisory issued September 30 at 12:59PM PDT until October 1 at 5:00AM PDT by NWS Seattle WA

  • WHAT…Southeast winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph expected.
  • WHERE…Island County, Lowlands of Western Whatcom County, and Port Townsend Area.
  • WHEN…Until 5 AM PDT Wednesday.
  • IMPACTS…Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

Instructions
Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicles. Secure outdoor objects.

A well-defined low-pressure weather system that has formed west of Vancouver Island is responsible for the forecast high winds. It is not expected to move away or dissipate very quickly. As a result windy and rainy conditions are forecast for the next few days.
