The National Weather Service (NWS) Seattle office has upgraded their Wind Advisory with a High Wind Warning this morning.

According to NWS forecasters, southerly 25 to 40mph sustained winds with local gusts to 60mph can be expected today until mid-afternoon.

High winds through the area already this morning may be to blame for a report of downed wires and subsequent power outage on Lummi Island. Puget Sound Energy says 60 of their customers on the south half of the island have been impacted by that outage.

A strong front said to be responsible for the high winds as it crosses Vancouver Island is visible in the computer model weather data animation below.
