South Whatcom Fire Authority Fire Chief Rod Topel said 1 person was transported from the scene by ambulance to PeaceHealth St Joseph’s Medical Center via basic life support (BLS) protocol with non-life-threatening injuries.

WSP Trooper Rocky Oliphant told Whatcom News a 1999 Ford Taurus and a 2015 Honda CRV were northbound on I-5 when the Ford, for an unknown reason, lost control and spun around. The Ford struck the left front of the Honda and ended up in the left lane and the Honda ended up on the right shoulder. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
