WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — There are reports of water and debris over roadways, including at least 1 vehicle stranded amidst floodwaters.
The Nooksack River crested early this morning just below the official flood stage at the Saxon bridge (at 7.7 feet) and Cedarville (at 146.2 feet) gauges. It is expected to crest about 10am at the Ferndale gauge just below the 18-foot mark, the low end of official flood stage.
Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of vehicle stuck on Ferndale Road, north of Marine Drive after 4am. Initial reports from the scene were that water over the roadway prevented deputies from getting close to the vehicle. A tow truck was dispatched.

Ferndale Road is closed south of Slater Road and Marine Drive is closed between Rural Avenue and Lummi Shore Road.
Barrett Road is closed south of Paradise Road and Paradise Road is closed east of Barrett Road.
The river level failed to reach 146.5 feet at the Cedarville gauge, the low end of official flood stage. It’s at that point that the Nooksack River is expected to cause shallow flooding of low pasture lands along the river downstream through Lynden.
