After being open less than a month, New Mexico Tamale Company owners discovered this morning they had been burgled overnight.
This morning, when the manager arrived at the restaurant, located at 5687 3rd Avenue, they discovered damage to the back door and a microwave sitting on a garbage can. Co-owner Dora Ruiz arrived shortly after and the two inspected the building. They discovered a laptop computer was gone along with change from the cash register and a new Apple iPad and Square point-of-sale system. When they opened the microwave, they discovered the laptop computer and several food items that they assumed the burglar(s) intended to take.
Regardless, according to Ruiz, they opened as usual today. “This will not stop us from doing what we love to do to.”
Ferndale Police are investigating the burglary and anyone with information is asked to contact them at (360) 384-3390.
