Today is the first day of business for the new Leader Block Barber Shop in the Leader Block Building at Main Street and 2nd Avenue.
Barber-stylists Delina Lobdell and Kristina Vogt have been cutting hair for years and have done it together much of that time. So when the opportunity to run their own barber shop came along, they took it.
Lobdell, a Ferndale High School graduate, has 10 years of barbering. “I used to cut friends’ and family’s hair but over the years it has become a livelihood,” she said.
Vogt, a Lynden High School graduate, grew up around hair styling spending a lot of time with her aunt who was a stylist. Vogt also is a licensed cosmetologist.
Given the shop is next-door to the Leader Block Wine Company, they are making plans to offer haircut specials that include a beer, wine or coffee drink.
The Leader Block Barber Shop, 2026 Main Street, will be open Mondays through Saturdays, 10am to 7pm. Walk-ins are always welcome.
