SANDY POINT, Wash. — Neighbors in the Neptune Beach neighborhood told Whatcom News they saw a large law enforcement presence this morning, Thursday, October 5th, at a residence in the 4700 block of Neptune Circle.
Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) spokesperson Deb Slater told Whatcom News that WCSO SWAT and the Bellingham Police Department were attempting to serve a felony warrant on a subject at the residence.
The subject, a 61-year-old female, did not comply with verbal commands to surrender according to Slater. Crisis Negotiators attempted to negotiate a surrender for over 2 hours.
A drone deployed into the home showed video footage of the woman unresponsive. Deputies entered the residence to check on her and found her deceased.
Slater said the Ferndale Police Department will be investigating.
