Muds to Suds event reinvented as WonderMud

wondermud logoLast year was the 4th annual Muds to Suds, a muddy obstacle run held at Hovander Homestead Park. But it will be the last by that name.

Whatcom Events recently announced the mud obstacle run known as “Muds to Suds” will now be known as “WonderMud” and is scheduled to continue this August. Another visible change will be swapping out the beer garden with a root beer float garden.

According to organizers, these changes were made in response to participant feedback from last year’s run.

Given 75% of participants are women, organizers decided to “rename, rebrand and make the event more family-friendly.”

This year’s WonderMud run is scheduled for Saturday, August 27th and the course will feature 25 obstacles including eight mud pits according to the announcement. Heats will begin at 10am and leave every 20 minutes until 4pm. Registration is open for this year’s event and the fee includes a t-shirt, a bratwurst and a root beer float.

Funds from this year’s WonderMud will go to the Lydia Place Transitional Housing Program.

Whatcom Events is also the organizer of the annual Ski to Sea and Tour de Whatcom Bicycle Ride athletic events.
