Mt Baker Highway closure scheduled Sunday morning for bicycling event

GLACIER, Wash. — Officials with the Washington State Department of Transportation announced Friday that about 22 miles of Mount Baker Highway (SR542) will be closed to all traffic east of Glacier between 6am and 12pm tomorrow, Sunday, September 25th.

The closure is to allow hundreds of bicyclists to participate in a hill climb event on the over 4,400-foot ascent over that section of road. The event, originally scheduled for September 11th, was canceled and rescheduled to tomorrow due to poor air quality brought on by wildfire smoke.
